Dr. Richard B. Wirthlin
Dr. Richard B. Wirthlin is one of this country's most respected political and business strategists.
Dr. Wirthlin received his PhD in Economics in 1964 from the University of California at Berkeley. In 1969, he co-founded the firm Decision/Making/Information which later became Wirthlin Worldwide, widely recognized as a premier communications strategy and market positioning group. In 2004, Wirthlin Worldwide merged with Harris Interactive.
Dr. Wirthlin was the Campaign Director of Strategy and Planning for the 1980 and 1984 Reagan Presidential Campaigns and served as an advisor to President Reagan during his terms in office. Dr. Wirthlin chronicled his 36-year friendship with President Reagan in his book, The Greatest Communicator: What Ronald Reagan Taught Me about Politics, Leadership, and Life.
Dr. Wirthlin has been widely recognized by his peers as a pioneer and a leader in the development of innovative and sophisticated techniques in the fields of opinion research and communications strategy. In April 2000, he received the "Pollster of the Year" award from the American Association of Political Consultants.
Dr. Wirthlin has been married to Jeralie Chandler for 52 years and they have eight children, 24 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Currently, the Wirthlins are serving as full time missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ Later-day Saints.
