Jim Spencer
Jim Spencer, President of The Campaign Network, has over 35 years of experience as a Democratic political consultant. Mr. Spencer has advised hundreds of political campaigns at every level — from city council to President — in every major region of the country. He has created and produced millions of pieces of high impact mail, receiving twenty "Pollie" awards for excellence in political communication including awards for best presidential and congressional mail.
Mr. Spencer has played a leadership role in every U.S. presidential campaign since 1980. He was most recently involved in President Obama's campaign, and held a key strategy post in John Kerry's 2004 campaign. Mr. Spencer is the former Vice President of Winning Directions, the industry's premier Democratic mail firm.
Mr. Spencer's strategic analysis and innovative voter contact programs have led to numerous upset victories for Democratic candidates at the federal, state and municipal levels. For ten years, he held the post of Political Director and District Manager for Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy II (D-MA). Mr. Spencer also worked on an executive level for the Massachusetts Democratic State Party as well as strategic counsel for some of New England's largest labor unions.
A highly regarded motivational speaker, Mr. Spencer has led campaign training workshops throughout the United States, including presentations at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, George Washington University, and the Ray Bliss Institute at the University of Akron. In 2000, Jim was recognized by Campaigns & Elections, the premier magazine for political professionals, as a rising star in national politics.
