Donna Lucas

Donna Lucas is Chief of Staff to First Lady Maria Shriver. She is a member of the Governor's senior staff and is a senior advisor to the Governor. Donna is also the Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Prior to joining the administration, Donna headed the Global Public Affairs Practice Group for Porter Novelli, an international public relations firm. She also oversaw Porter Novelli's offices in Sacramento, Irvine and San Diego. She has advised clients that include labor unions, trade associations, non-profits and major corporations.

Lucas has managed statewide ballot initiatives on a variety of issues including housing, water, public education and government reform.

Prior to joining Porter Novelli, Donna was CEO and president of Nelson Communications Group, one of the leading public affairs firms in California. It was acquired by Porter Novelli in 2000.

She also served as California press secretary for President George Bush's successful 1988 presidential campaign, press secretary to former Governor George Deukmejian and director of public affairs at the California Treasurer's Office.

Donna was the media director for California's delegations to the 1992 and 1996 Republican National Convention. She sat on the California Steering Committee for President George W. Bush. She presently serves as Chairman of the American Association of Political Consultants.

A 1982 graduate of the University Of Southern California School Of Journalism, Donna lives in Sacramento with her husband, Greg, a reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle and their daughter, Katie.
